#22 PONTIAC GP? YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE
Re: #22 PONTIAC GP? YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE
This red car has masked silver trim -we have never seen any other Brazilian Matchbox with masked silver trim. Near mint red RW issues are very common, maybe even the odd unspun RW is about and its a simple matter to fit a SF baseplate drilled off a purple car if you have a riviting tool like mr moko has capable of spinning the Lesney way. This past year we have been shown a number of common cars here by members which have one or more unspun rivits that were sold through shops in that condition

I agree Mr Mick about the mask-spray trim being original to Lesney and i cannot say that i had seen any such trim on any Brazil assembled castings before.SMS88 wrote:This red car has masked silver trim -we have never seen any other Brazilian Matchbox with masked silver trim
Was it possible that some of these leftover/surplus painted bodies were shipped to Brazil like many other semi-completed castings.I ask/question the above in this instant cos it seems clear that this base shows signs of what used to hold a sticker,ie Inbrima.
Thanks

Numi,
You are the rivet specialist!!! Therefore i find it a little odd that you have no concerns about some aspects of this car including the rivets and wheels, IMHO the rear rivet especially looks very rough around the edges, which may reflect evidence of tampering and the wheels have some general wear about them, yet the rest of the car is absolutely pristine???.
I have to admit that the alarm bells started ringing for me as soon as i noticed the loose glazing unit. As for the Brazil connection......straws we are grasping me thinks.

Cannot see how this model would be genuine when the door sill has a step in it. Would have thought this would have the later 2mm sill. Just my thoughts. J

Well spotted Jason.
I don't know much about Superfasts but the inside looks remarkably free of any red overspray but the underneath of the wheel arches has plenty of paint on them. its also a private listing, not to mention the colour, the term 'barge pole' comes to mind.
