Re: Latest projects
Just finished up a restore on a Y3 tram. I noticed that Nick mentions that the wheels on this model come molded as a unit complete with axle. That is true for the late issue plastic wheels but not the metal wheels. Metal wheels are individual molded parts and sleeve onto steel axles. This info may help the next person who takes one apart from having to spend an hour looking for the those tiny things when they unexpectedly fall off the ends of the axles and onto the floor.

I love the 6b, one of many favorites in the 1-75 line up. Those decals aren't the usual from Mr Flowers (where one man points front and on the other side he points to the rear).

If they are not Flower's decals whose are they or did you make them?Tinman wrote:I love the 6b, one of many favorites in the 1-75 line up. Those decals aren't the usual from Mr Flowers (where one man points front and on the other side he points to the rear).

Re: Latest projects
Since I can't print white. It's a small production just to make the decals. I had a 6b play worn model that had one fairly complete decal on one side. I soaked that off and scanned it. I made digital repairs to the scan and then made a copy and turned it 180* to make the decal for the other side of the truck. Since I could never cut out the diameter of the small decal good enough to suit my picky tastes, I gave up on trying to print the decals on white decal paper, so I switched over to clear. Now, I needed to restore the white background for the man, I cut out a small piece of white decal paper and placed it on the model first. When I placed the clear decal over the white, it gave me the background for the man. However, that created a problem that I didn't have with the decal printed on white decal paper. The areas of the clear paper decal that were beyond the white patch for the man had some color bleed through from the safety yellow paint. I had to lay a second clear backed decal over the first to solve the problem. The better solution was to cut a white circle just slightly under size of the clear paper decal. The imperfection of my cut out white circle would be covered by the actual decal.GHOSTHUNTER wrote:If they are not Flower's decals whose are they or did you make them?Tinman wrote:I love the 6b, one of many favorites in the 1-75 line up. But, I will not be doing that again as I see our friend at Black Square is producing 6b decals oriented in the correct directions. Clearly, I need to make another decal order from him as what went on with making the 6b decals was way too much work.

Thanks Joe.
A lot of work but handled in the same way as I would have done becaause it solved the problems.
I wonder how many would have noticed the decals if they did not have the correct orientation.
You may use me again for the new decals, OK.
