Something for a slow day

Post by Bill Manzke »

I've been moving into a new house and also picked up a second job teaching at night. Sorry it's been slow here for a while. Please feel free to pitch in comments and questions!

COMMENT:
I love this model as a Whizzwheels version.

The Whizzwheels issue of the Camaro looks great in its blue and white colour scheme, and is quite scarce now. The production quantity was certainly far lower than the earlier Golden Jacks version.

Some have black SS transfers on the front wings, which don't go very well with the white stripe on the bonnet. Presumably there were left-over transfers to use up.

Based on the photo, these Camaros have a nose stripe that's in three pieces. Am I correct...?

Yes, the nose stripe is in three pieces. The top part is painted, and there is a transfer on each side, presumably so they could include the SS lettering.

I had the Golden Jacks version as a Xmas present in 1967 (may have been 1968).
Loved it and vowed that one day, I would own a real Camaro.
Well, I never did get to own a first generation but I did own a 1979 Berlinetta between 1987 and 1995.

That's how I am with original Minis, though I've yet to own one...

My Golden Jacks Camaro from my childhood along with part of my collection.I always thought the wheels on this version were among the best that Mettoy did.

...which wnen added to the lovely soft rubber tyres made them perfect.

The Golden Jacks Rolls-Royce wheels however were too concave so never looked right...!
