PAYPAL SCAM

Post by petethesweet »

Hi all, had a email from paypal the other morning, looked very good especially the bit at the bottom that had come from Brussels , briefly it said we have taken out £649.11 out of our account as they had a suspicion that we were money laundering , but we could get our money back if i put my email address & password on the return email, complete scam. Please be very weary if you have one like this. Pete.

Hi Bob, hope you are keeping well. I could not save the email & it wouldn't let me put it in a folder. Do not like the new check out system on eBay. Pete.

Yes, all ok this end, thanks. Bit quiet on the toy front though. Far too many "ex employee samples" about for my liking.

Bob, I clicked on your paypal link and all I got was a message generated by my laptop saying something like...no program is associated with this command.

Let PayPal deal with it, just forward to spoof@paypal.com and they will take it from there....

As with all these scams, the idea is to panic the receiver into taking immediate action. That means them clicking on the link in front of their nose.
If you ever get anything like this, take a deep breath, steady your nerves, and log into your account via the official website. That avoids falling prey to malicious or spoofed links and, should there really be anything untoward going on, the result will be exactly the same.
