Pontiac GP

Post by Viewfield »

Picked these up, mainly for the Aral. The Pontiac has me wondering.

To me this is orange not red/orange. Don’t have one to compare. It’s orange all over so don’t think it’s a sunfade.

It’s nearly the same shade as the roof of the Caravan

Is this classed as orange red or what?

Wasn't there something similar being touted as a preproduction a while back on Ebay by an Australian seller?

That's an interesting one - it does seem to be distinctly orange. It's not the first base, because it has the patent number, so it could be a colour trial. Does it have silver trim on the grille?

The Ford fire chief is also an odd colour - is it a repaint?

The two fire vehicles in the pic have the same off red color. Could that be from some manipulation with the lighting in the photo or something with the camera?
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Additional photos‘ hopefully showing the colours.

And the Pontiac does have silver trim.

The fire chief is there for colour comparison.

The Fairlane is definitely an odd colour - it should be bright red. The cloudy windows might be caused by superglue fumes - do you think it’s been apart?

Cloudy windows are definitely a cause for concern, and always raise question marks regarding plastic and paint colour differences.

Pretty sure it’s not been apart but after close scrutiny it and the Pontiac would appear to be sunfaded. There is a touch of red on the “C” pillar of the Pontiac and on the underside of the Fairlane the colour is much redder.
