Hi Charlie,
I've got quite a few of these including some you haven't got. I'll post some pics when I get back from the Weekend Retreat.
What caught my eye was the baseplate photo of the Atkinsons. I've also got the version marked on the box as 'LONG BODY' which it seems to match the issue with the water tank at the back of the lorry. That makes the others the short body version. I'll check the White Book when I get back but it looks like the Lake Goldsmith model is the only one like that. I've just never noticed this before. Doh!

I've three models not shown above by Charlie.

The standard Atkinson Steam Wagon models come in green or maroon, each with either green or yellow wheels. Here's the green with yellow wheels not shown above that I got from The Ricardo Cortes-Monroy IV Collection auction in March.

The maroon 1/10 Foden with a black roof I got from matchboxmarcel last year.
ATM-17 maroon Foden with black cab roof 1/10

The 1/10 Foden with trailer, which uses the original Yesteryear Fraser's issue, I also got from matchboxmarcel last year with the black cab roof.

The version Charlie has with the white cab roof was another model I got from Ricardo's auction in March whereI also got a rare 1/2 model to match the Yorkshire Steam Wagon in Charlie's collection. Mine is a maroon and green Foden, based (like the yellow wheel Fodens above) on YAS12 Brett and Sons release from the Matchbox Collectibles Steam Powered Vehicles Collection.

Charlie showed photos of the standard and Long Body Limited Edition models which started me thinking about the original donor models.

My knowledge of this ATM series is pretty much limited to what has been shared on the VBD (and that amounts to very little).

What was the original price for this series?
Did they have to be ordered and paid in advance of the release?
Who was hired to do all of the paint and tampo work on the models?
It looks like boxes were printed up for the various models, why do some of them list a completely different model at the bottom on the front of the boxes?
What years were these models done?
Were records kept on the various variations of each release?
Did the purchase price cover the cost of making these or was the price inflated to provide a fund raiser for the club?
What year and model was the final release for this series?
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Hi Tinman,
I only have answers to the following questions:

What was the original price for this series? Sorry do not recall. The standard issues were reasonably priced.

Did they have to be ordered and paid in advance of the release? One would receive the standard models if you are on the automatic distribution list. Payment was usually done via CC on file.

What years were these models done? 2004-2010. ATM01 Dodge Airflow "Fidalgo Island" shown on Mica's edition April/May 2004 page 254.

Were records kept on the various variations of each release? Not sure if anyone kept a record of all the variations. Mica mags & Vectis catalogs were good source for information.

What year and model was the final release for this series? ATM34 "Cleveland Gasoline" Model TT van shown on Mica's E-magazine No.13 (July 2010 page 9).

Thanks Charlie. I had no idea these models were still being produced (by Mattel) in 2010 or were they made using new old stock?

Weren't all these code 2 models made from re-finished donor models?

They were re-manufactured by the MICA or the Matchbox Club. I'm not sure how they sourced the donor models but some o butf the top people of these organisations had good contacts with Matchbox management so it's possible that the models were provided by Mattel.

As far as pricing is concerned I found a couple of things in the MICA Magazines. My apologies for the poor quality of the photos. I'll try to replace them with some taken in better light tomorrow.
ATM01 Fidalgo Island was shown in Volume 19 No.6

PicsArt_08-27-09.29.06~3.jpg
Volume 22 No.4 showed ATM-11 Michelin and ATM-12 Reckitt's Bag Blue

This magazine also shows a Limited Edition ATM-11 Michelin 1/14 in the auction listing with a guide price of £70. The last two magazines also have details of some ATM models (but gets the numbers wrong!) but no pricing information. The article tells readers to obtain these models from their usual supplier and as Charlie said, it was possible to have a standing order set up. I assume folks like us only ever got the standard model. The Limited Editions went to the select few at the top of the organisation.
