Hi Charlie,
I bought Marcel's 3 models last summer, one red roof and two green roof. I'm still at my Weekend Retreat so don't have the models to hand but have photos.
One green roof model is different to the ones you have. The image quality isn't good as it's heavily cropped from the original.

Re: ATM 02: 1926 Ford Model TT Van "Beckers Pretzels"
I've now had a chance to check my models.
The green roof on the model without the oval window in the side of the van (upper model in these photos) is darker than the model with the window. The baseplate is also different, lacking the cast legend YGB02, being a later issue with the YGB02 model number tampo printed on the donor model. The red roof model is darker than a standard YGB02 Beck and Co model It is also lacking the cast legend YGB02, being an original Y21 donor model. This is just about visible in the close-up photo below As can be seen the baseplate details are mostly cast on the chassis rather than the underside of the van body, so no reference to Matchbox Collectibles. Note the sticker denoting it's a limited edition of only 17 and the single screw hole originally used to fix the model in the Type N display box. Finally, here's a photo from Horace Dunkley's auction showing 6 different green roof models. Sadly the descriptions are generally not detailed enough.

Re: ATM 02: 1926 Ford Model TT Van "Beckers Pretzels"
That's a ton of "chase" models for one code 2 release. Must be maddening for a completionist. Was that number intended or accidental?
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
Re: ATM 02: 1926 Ford Model TT Van "Beckers Pretzels"
The general consensus is that these models were produced by a Cabal who made sure they got one each of the rare models with some standard models available to the masses. Sometimes a version of just two would be made and it's safe to assume Horace Dunkley got one and Joe Recchia the other.Tinman wrote:That's a ton of "chase" models for one code 2 release. Where variations occur in the more numerous 'standard' release it's usually the result of poor quality control or just the lack of donor models being available. The whole idea of these Code 2 releases was to re-generate interest in collecting whilst at the same time using up unsold stock which had the potential for improving the value of existing Code 1 models.
Purists are often very disdainful of these models and how difficult it is to collect a complete set but are quite happy to seek elusive variations in early Yesteryears. The colour schemes of some models shown here by Charlie have been criticised but there must have been an element of trying to avoid having too many similar looking models. Obviously it's an Abraham Lincoln scenario with some more agreeable than others. The YCL series of Canadian labels produced mostly blue models And the YAL series of American labels produced mostly green models. I've rather gone away from Charlie's thread leader so my apologies to him. Any further discussion of the points I've mentioned above should be aired in a new thread.

I found this in Volume 22 No.5 of the MICA Magazine, which printed a list of Code 2 models and known variations. Horace Dunkley was the author and it's possible he found more versions (like Charlie's different body colour shades) before he sold up in 2010.
