The latest and greatest Unimog to roll out of the body shop.

Post by Tinman »

Thinking run of the mill tan and turquoise Unimog restoration? Look closer. Tow hook was broken and had to be rebuild. That was a pain in the arse (my fat fingers have a tough time with really really small things like that).

I more like the ESSO where you make something completely different to a Matchbox model.

I like it! Here's the real thing - a lucky find at the NEC a few years ago.

How odd, mine also has an imperfection on a wheel hub. Mines on the left rear.

Very nice restoration Tinman! It looks factory fresh.

As much as I enjoy seeing your inventive custom creations, since this casting is a hard to find code 1, my feeling is your choice to do a restoration was more appropriate than a customization would have been.

Thanks for sharing the very fine work you do.
Happy hunting!

Thank you very much for the positive comment. There are some models where I've been buying beaters of that model for at least the last 25 years. The Unimog is one such model. At one point, I probably had between 40 to 50 Unimog beaters in various conditions. Today, I have four beaters left (and one of those is missing a base). As a rule of thumb, I go through all the beaters and try to cull out anything rare or hard to find that someone might want in "as is condition." Every once in a while, I miss something that is rare or hard to find. Such is the case with the the model below. After someone brought the base on this one to my attention, I decided to be a little more careful.
