Two for one 13d's

Post by Tinman »

On the left: The "Factory Fake" from 1970: Crimped axles, thick boom, paper label and red hook.

On the right: The first release with thin boom, decals, silver trim, gray hook, the sunken ejector ring behind the wench and LESNEY lightly embossed on the wheels.

Now this IS interesting.

As you have posted these in your restoration section, I have to assume they are restorations of original models but if not, they must be originals or what are they Joe?

I am fully aware of the Factory Fake so is yours original or a model code 3'd to be like an original and likewise, is the model on the right an original or is that also a code 3?

Ghosty waits with bated breath!!

Both are beaters, brought back from being relegated to the beater bucket, to once again shine on someone's display shelf. These two are guilty of Stolen Valor, as they now wear an officer's uniform and in real life they are only enlisted personnel. They might fool a pretty girl or two in a dimly lit pub, but other service members will quickly see they are only pretenders.

 nice description Joe.

OK, they are rebuilt beaters but very good ones and yes, they will look great in someones collection as...''this is what I could have''.
