The main difference between 9a and 9b is the addition of a front bumber, but there are a few different casting as shown in the following pictures.
This has 10 x 24 treads BPW
This has 10 x 45 treads BPW
Also showing the three different colour ladders, Light Brown, Silver, and Gold.
