This is a minor aspect of Matchbox history, one hidden in plain sight, which has fascinated me for years.
As you must know by now, my interest lies mainly in RW 1-75s. However, every so often I catch sight of a model from another range and spot that someone hat the Factory had gone to the trouble of aligning the series numbers for (as-near-as) identical models. So, for instance:
- 1-75 Series 2a & 2b Muir Hill Site Dumper / King Size 2a Muir Hill Site Dumper,
- 1-75 Series 7c Ford Refuse Truck / King Size 7b S&D Refuse Truck, and
- 1-75 Series 26a ERF Cement Lorry / SuperKings 26b ReadyMix Concrete Truck. (A surprising one that because the SuperKings is a 1977 issue).
Which other alignments have Members spotted?
