I assume not to collect Lesneys in this decade??

Re: Forum demographic survey
I'm in the 30-40 range. And just to rub it in, I'll be there for quite a few years yet

218 views on this post but only 40 votes!!!! there must be quite a few who are too afraid to reveal there true age!!
In all honesty, i am a little disappointed with that ratio as personaly i think this is quite an important subject that will help give us a rough guide as to what age group is presently focused on the subject of collecting Matchbox and other diecast. The more votes the more accurate the result will be!

Actually that's not a bad ratio, they recon the average forum has 1 poster to every 10 viewers. most likely the non voting viewers are not members so can't vote.

At the time of my vote:
average age 48.5
1970 would make the "average collector" 5 years old.
Further evidence to the increase in transitional superfast values, and possibly a sign of where RW collecting is headed?

Re: Forum demographic survey
Not really. Its the way the markets go. Its the same reason why late 70's/Early 80's Ford's are some of the most wanted Classic Cars right now. People collect what they remember.motorman wrote:Controversial??ford_a_30 wrote:At the time of my vote:

As someone born in the 1980's (just), I really couldn't care less about RW's I don't remember them. My memories are of Group B Rally cars & the 'supercar' boom. Of which I think Matchbox got it just right.
Re: Forum demographic survey
In my opinion it is decisive, at what age you have your memorable experiences. I for me was about 7-9 years old, when the poppy SF have been released. Before that I owned some RW - nice and commonplaced but somehow dull (my impression at that time ).....and now Big Banger, Soopa Coopa, Flying Bug etc. Something really new and all my friends wanted them. We collected and were proud to own them; it was a wonderfull time for us and it was the most important doing then. And this feeling slumbered despite all the years and now brakes through again, yeah!
