Promo Corgi Majors Holmes Wrecker

Post by Bill Manzke »

This is believed to be a promotional version of the Ford Holmes Wrecker made for the company that made real Holmes wreckers. Note that the decals on the sides are printed in a non-standard color. Sadly I lost track of the email address of the owner. I am hoping he contacts me again someday!

A relative of mine started his towing company 15 years ago with a Holmes 500 (actually, a 600 I think) on a Chevy C60. Very powerful, despite only being like a 10 Ton wrecker. These all-mechanical Holmes have pulling power unmatched by modern hydraulic wreckers, which means towing companies even today love to keep them in their fleets (and becuase they cost a lot less to acquire). That old wrecker really got me started collecting model wreckers, and I have more than a few Holmes, but I still haven't picked up any of the Corgis; the big Ford, the little Ford, or the Berliet. I do have the Land Rover wrecker as well as the Husky Ford F-350.

Very nice piece! I love the gold color, and that it is a promo. I also noticed the orange light, which seems more typical of a US wrecker than does the red on the standard issue.
