Hi Alex.
Well, I like to think it was foresight, but when I first decided to redo my site in 2008 (it first went online in 1998) I asked myself what would be the ideal gadget to take to toyfairs, basically I came up with the tablet or ipad. So the site was designed to be best viewed on a tablet even though they had yet to be invented, so it went from there,
Bear in mind the site is now 2600 pages and each page would need to be spread over several pages to include everything, So to make a full version it would probably need to be somewhere in the region of 20,000 pages if you include all of the price guides etc. (The Dinky toy price guide gets almost as many hits as the Lesney pages do).
So you can either be weighed down with 40 pounds of paper that would be obsolete as soon as it is published at a cost that only the rich would be able to afford, or you can buy a cheap tablet for around £30 and have the guide and the forum thrown in for free.

Re: Reference books
I know Nick you are right, i guess i am a bit old school and whilst i am computer literate and use them every day of my life, i still love that feel of having a reference book to flick through. I just picked up "The Ultimate Book of Spot-On" written by Brian Salter and it is a truely magnificent book ( i mean it highly recommended if you haven't bought a copy yet) comparible in size to the Great Books of Corgi or Dinky and i feel the only thinks now missing from my reference collection (apart from a first edition Stannards) would be a paper copy of yours, Nicks Guide, maybe if you just stuck to Lesney/Matchbox that might cut down the size of the book from the size of a skip to the size of a wheel barrow. Mind you I would probably need another wheel barrow to cart it around........Yes you're right!! point taken Nick, lets stick to the digital age!!!
