Silvers

Post by fixer »

After a successful sandown trip I thought I had better do a Silvers section
While taking the pictures I realized all except the fire engine and cannon came from the same seller
They come in their own style of boxes only identified by markings on the end flaps

These are your giraffe farts like MOYs are to me
TBH a lot of my knowledge has come from Ghosty and Ogdie2 alongside personal observations. Still learning daily

Great post Reg but I suspect we won't get too many additional postings from other members simply because the 'Silvers' are such an unknown entity with little common knowledge about them.

I have made this a 'Sticky' for you so it does not get lost and will always be towards the top of the index listing.

Thanks mate
I forgot about the bus I have packed away somewhere but most will know of them
I'm guessing that there's going to be a Silvers version of all the castings from the era...now to find a Corvette stingray and firenza

Quite a nice collection you have, Reg! Is the coppery-brown one a Maserati Mistral? There are two things about the Gran Turismo that puzzle me: why it is labeled as such when it's quite obviously a Corvette Sting Ray, and why it has faux hood vents (unique to the '63 Corvette) but lacks the split rear window. Did they model a car that was customized, update the tooling when GM did away with the split rear window, or something else?

Thanks
In answer to the first question yes it's the Maserati and is actually a pinky shade
I think that there was no product license in place from Chevrolet for the Corvette hence the name gran turismo and this may explain why it's not a direct copy of the real thing, or maybe just for ease of casting
The licensing must have been sorted later for the Corvette stingray, in all honesty it saves confusing the 2 castings. The gran turismo must have been popular as it's the only casting used for the entire impy, flyers and back to impy ranges
