Despite showing 1970 on the base it does not appear in the 1970 pocket catalogue, but is in the 1971 edition. Corgi introduced their racing Mini into the Juniors range in 1970 and I was always under the impression of the Matchbox version was based on a specific racing formula for Minis as the Corgi is, where they fit fibreglass bodies which are lower and or wider than the steel bodied road cars.
