A dinky that never was....

Post by starni999 »

Hi all,
Here's an old picture, vectis I think, of the wooden mock up for the Albion Tanker, in the end it never went any further than this one, and the assembly drawing, I'm guessing that it was thought to be a bit dated beside the Mk2 Foden Tanker, but what a shame it was never made.

That is beautiful. Maybe this is my Scottish-ness talking but I prefer that to the Fodens. The other Dinky that never was that would have been lovely was the articulated Bedford tanker going by the drawings I've seen.

I have to agree with Ewan, that Albion is stunning.....remarkable it never went to full production.

Hi all,
Ewan, here's a quick tip, if you want a real 50's Bedford artic tanker, that looks just like the proposed Dinky, take a Dinky Bedford artic cab from the car transporter, and fix it to a Corgi Mobilgas tanker trailer from their Bedford S type unit. The scale is about right, and with a red painted cab it looks amazing.
