Video "Full Size Matchbox" motoring about
Re: Video "Full Size Matchbox" motoring about
That's a very interesting film. How wrong was their vision of the future, they totally underestimated the impact of the car on our city streets. Amazing to see how they thought that this "New" town called Cumbernauld was the way that all new towns should be built.........if only they had a crystal ball they would have been stunned to see that this new town would turn out to be such a shit hole in little more that 20 years after it was built. As for the town centre "suspended" above the road way system.....revolutionary?.......no. It guaranteed Cumbernauld the top prize in the ugliest town in Britain contest a few years ago. What do you think of this wonderful Town centre below. That architect should have been shot!!!!

Alex that's the trouble with them " visionaries", they are long on vision and short on common sense !motorman wrote:That's a very interesting film. How wrong was their vision of the future,
When I saw the film and it got to the part of the, "community of tomorrow", the first thought that I had was.. I wonder how long "that" lasted, before it fell into decay. I figured about twenty years, and as reported by you, that seems to be the case.
Enjoyed seeing the full size Lesney's running about though.
The owner of that one was really having a bad day.. dent and a ticket to boot!Dr Jazz wrote:Such a shame that E-type with a big dent in the mudguard
