Thanks, great find.
Just checked 9 cars, 3 have no R on base. Two red ones and one yellow car without R.

Very nice Mathias, I have a mixture of with R and without.
Here is the yellow model(with/without R), also with matt and a gloss black base. Jason

Re: 27b Lamborghini Countach Base Variants
Yes, this appears to be about 50/50, so surely two baseplate dies used concurrently. However, now that I have been alerted to it, the difference seems much too obvious to ignore.
This has just increased the number of variations presumed to exist for this model (only English made, excluding Brazilians) from 129 to 258, of which I have only 39 so far. (One of those has now been transferred from my duplicates into my collection, which I think is a good thing.)
And I have not even made the distinction between flat and gloss black baseplates yet, nor between the shades of yellow and the shades of red on the bodies, although I have observed these differences in my collection too, so there is still more Countach variation splitting ahead of me.
The number of variations to process increases as the time available for doing it decreases...!
