Pricing Question

Post by TheStormyM »

Hello to everyone and thank you for letting me join this forum.

I recently inherited a collection of nearly 600 toy cars. There are various makes including Lledo days gone, Brumm, Oxford, Corgi Cameo and Atlas.
The majority are Matchbox Models of Yesteryear (nearly 300). I have used Nick Jones' list to sort through the collection (which has been a great help). I have come across a couple of anomalies that do not match his list but I will come to those in a later post once I have further verified.
I have now come across a Model Price Guide from Model Collector. The list seems a good way of cross referencing Nick's guide. Although, alas the latest price guide I could lay my hands on was the 2010 edition.
Is this guide a good source for info and for pricing?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Using printed price guides used to be a good idea but since the advent of the internet and the existance of more serious collectors, it has become a rather outdated method. The casual buyer/dealer/collector will find printed guides of use but to get a better understanding of what models you have or do not have, then a collectors forum is the best place to be involved with. If you are just after valuations once you have established what models you have then studying ebay and auction sites is better than any printed price guide and actually better than what we might suggest here on the forum as it is not in our nature to give out valuations!

please feel free to post any pictures ( the sizes need to be about 640 x 350) I'm sure there will be plenty of advice on variations and anything unusual
