Prices were so high, it did make me wonder if someone had money to burn (a lottery winner perhaps?). On the other hand, it takes two people to trigger a high price at auction, so perhaps not.

I looked at the models for sale and noticed one that they listed as a CODE ONE but it was a code 2 or 3.

I emailed Vectis over a week ago but the did not reply even sent them a photo of the base of a Code 1.

...which is precisely why I said in an earlier post that I would want to inspect a number of the models first-hand before bidding on them. Vectis have a reputation for offering juicy morels at their sales, but they also have a bit of a reputation for poor cataloguing.

I placed many bids on different items on the Matchbox auction from VECTIS.
Overbided on most items except two. I got an ARAL Tanker # 32 in its Box and a Taxi # 17 in D-Box.
Couldn't think that the white Mercedes MOY reaches such a price.

This was the model in question the 30c that was not a code one.

The code one comes with-out a brace at the rear end of the base.

Yes, I got up at about 3 in the morning to check on the auction since I live in the States and there seemed to be a relatively high number of harder to find models/boxes. While I would have loved to add a few to my collections, I too, thought the realized prices were VERY high so needless to say, I was shut out. I also agree that many of the models needed to be "held in hand" to help assure that they are genuine.
Such high prices are generally a double edged sword: Nice for those selling or exiting the Hobby. Not so nice for those trying to add models (especially harder to find) to their collection.
Anyway, it was fun to watch. I personally think the one gentleman auctioneer who did most of the sale is quite a character :) ........ Quite fun!

The Auctioneer was certainly more animated than some, but after a while he got on my nerves!

Have Vectis increased their commission to 24% for buyers Pete? :o I won’t be bidding ever again that’s daylight robbery.

Hi Motor, I think Vectis commission has always been 24% since i have been dealing with them. Some of the top auction houses can be over 40%. Pete.
