The Greatest Toy Company is...

Post by GHOSTHUNTER »

Well who is it, who has made the greatest contribution to the toy car world?

There are several companies that could claim the above but what are your thoughts, who do you think has made the greatest contribution to the toy car world.

You can name the 'Brand' or parent company so Lesney is the parent company to Matchbox and Mettoy were the parent company to Corgi but if you do not know the parent company, does not matter we will know who you are describing.

This is not a poll but something to discuss, Polls just allow a vote with no reasoning behind the vote.

Take it away Guys!

I agree the lego product has certainly made an incredable impact on generations of Children and to a lesser extent Adults, as a very good toy with learning and constructional abilities.

Thanks Marcel.

Didn't make that many toy cars though did they, even though the early examples are very collectable.

Actually from 1955 to about 1968, Lego produced a whole range of plastic vehicles close to 1/87th scale.

Such as this VW Karmann Ghia.

I have many sets from my childhood including 390 and 391.
Set 395 was bought many many years later.
Please compare the 390 set with your MOY Caddy's Bob !

For toys in general I would definitely go for Lego, which was certainly my favourite toy overall when I was young, due to its versatility. However, for toy cars Meccano are up there for me, although those early 24 Series car owe a very clear debt to Dowst's Tootsietoys...
