It sounds like Lesney stopped doing silver trim early on for several models so I'm guessing that silver paint trim in general is somewhat rare.
The silver-trimmed models are scarce, but can be found on Ebay if you have sharp eyes. To avoid buying a model which has been super-detailed, remember that only the numberplate and not the whole front bumper should be silver.

Thank you, that would have been my next question as it seems like a little silver paint would be easy to counterfeit. It also appears from the discussion on here that silver trim combined with an outie ejection ring would also be a red flag, since an outie indicates a later casting and not a casting that would have been made when Lesney was still doing silver trim.

Oh man, my humble apologies to Idris. That was caused by a new update on my Android phone which now auto-corrects any word it doesn't recognize. It used to suggest words and let me ignore the suggestion but now it changes it whether I approve the suggestion or not. It's been causing me a lot of grief the last 2 days. For example, when I tried typing in Iso Grifo it changed it to "isolate gridlock".

Ah, thanks. I knew there must be a setting somewhere, I even asked friends on Facebook about it but no one seemed to know. I wish they hadn't updated it - i liked using it before because it used to allow me to override it's suggestions. It saved a lot of typing. Not sure what to do now, i like using it 95% of the time but the other 5% is now giving me such grief. Why do programmers always screw things up when they come out with upgrades?

Because they are given too little time to develop the upgrades properly. (I know this first hand.)
