Kia Ora from New Zealand,
I fear I've just entered into the murky underworld of die cast car collecting...
I've been on lookout for one of these M6 Racing car transporters for some time, as I had one when I was a kid and really liked it, but it seemed to vanish into the ether.
Fast forward some forty years, and I picked up this off Trade Me (NZ's indigenous equivalent of Ebay). I'm pretty happy with it inasmuch that the transparencies are intact and not cracked, and the paintwork on the whole is ok.
Now i'm on the lookout for some cars to accompany it, something like the lotus perhaps.
Acquiring this has made me realise that I have a predilection towards car transporters so there may be further purchases in the future... what have I gotten myself into?!

Welcome to the murky underworld of die cast car collecting!!
Although the hobby does have a dark underbelly of forgery and fakery I have no experience of the murky side yet
I will have to resize your pictures as at the moment they are too big for comfortable viewing unless another forum mod beats me to it which will not cause me any problem.
Ghosthunter.

The Racing car Transporter has always been a favorite of mine too. They are some fun variations to watch. Most seem have decals with the race car facing toward the front but some have the race car facing toward the back. (Look at the Transporter on the original box illustration. The race car faces toward the back!)
Then there are the choices of which cars to put in the Transporter: Lotus, Ferrari or BRM. Or maybe the earlier Maserati or Aston Martin. Choices. Choices. Then there will be need for support vehicles. Yes indeed. It is a slippery slope but well worth the ride.
Enjoy!

Happy hunting!

Welcome Singlespeeder - the transporter is one of my favourites and nice that you have the early version without the ramp slot (which is most probably the cause for the bend in the ramp as it was closed). Well done for getting one with undamaged glazing. Can certainly see a lot of accessories being added so keep your eyes peeled on TM.
