The Schiffer - Dr Edward Force has this 36g green and black as 1937 .
Cecil Gibson - History of British Dinky Toys lists this as 1938 but also lists the same colour scheme as 1947.
Ramsay’s states 1936 to 1946 subject to casting variation which relates to open or closed rear window.
However that reference says 1947 to 1950 versions have also been found in the green black combination with open rear window.
Mike and Sue Richardson record the green and black pre war as 1936 to 1941 and the post war model as 1946 to 1950.
Yours looks to be smooth hubs which are pre war as apposed to the hub with raised central area introduced 1946.
Mike and Sue Richardson do not make mention of the post war open rear window version but the Ramsay detail may well have been included after the Dinky Toys & Modelled Miniatures book was published.
I remember having some fun many years ago helping sort out and display a keen collectors Dinky and Corgi collection and this model was one that needed some work in sorting its rightful place.
A nice little model and in nice condition for around an 80 year old model.
The rear window is open, the hubs are smooth, the axles are of the 1.6mm variant, it has the small sump and a hole in the middle of the propshaft.
If no attribute hints to post war, is it safe to assume it's pre war then?
If that's the case, it's an amazing find considering it has no metal fatigue whatsoever.
It would make me feel a bit special.
