I’m intrigued if any forum members here can further enlighten me - or it news to everyone?

Yes I will attempt to move this and I did not know about Borris and his Busses. I think he might be a bit busy now to visit the forum. Lets hope it crops up in his first PMQ,s

The above 'Bus Modeller' posts have been moved here in an attempt to keep general Bus topics together. You can post Matchbox Bus stuff here as well, but I expect they have their own threads to begin with, but if not, bring them here.

This EKO model is made in Spain and the suicide exit is corect for this model but that is not the problem I am looking for.

I know very little about Spanish buses, but if this is a Barcelona bus it seems to have too few side windows, and it should have a centre entrance. I have one of these, and looking at the side panel detailing reminded me of the large plastic RT by Springwell (among other names). The trafficator and access panel certainly look very similar. Comparing the two toys, it is apparent that Eko largely (but not exactly) copied the larger plastic toy, swapping the sides round to match the LHD Spanish vehicle - very strange! Even the staircase matches the Springwell RT. The windows have been made a little taller on the Eko, which makes it look less like an RT.

The first thing to think is that the picture has been transposed making it LHD where in fact it is a LHD made model so the picture is correct.

The second thing is indeed the copy aspect and as you have pointed out it is based (as opposed to a direct copy) on the bigger plastic Springwell (or at least the earlier examples that the springwell is a copy of anyway!!).

Thanks Ghostie! It's funny that I've had this model a long time but never realised the copy aspect. The clue was that trafficator detail which reminded me of the earlier thread about the Springwell bus.
