corgi diecast restoration

Post by B17lover »

Decided to have a go at restoring a "scrapper" as minters are silly money. This is one from my earliest memories of corgi cars,I'm going to try the studebaker golden hawk next then a chevy impala. Any hints or tips to improve appreciated. :D hope the fotos display properly !!

Looks like you have done a good job on what was clearly a model with plenty of playware!

I have resized your images fort better viewing as your originals were far too large for the forum. If you take each picture through the 'Paint' program on a computer and resize them first, they will look better once posted here.

You can resize them in Postimage before you upload them. Just chose the size you want from the upload options. Click on the box that says "do not resize my image" for the options.

Very nice job, especially the masking job on the red roof! Did you use a replacement windscreen?
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

You've certainly done an excellent job on that old Corgi. Was that your first restoration - if so, that's even more impressive!

Thank you, that was the first one. I've started the golden hawk now so will post when it's finished. I must confess though I have been a model maker for over 50 years so the skills are basically the same on metal as plastic. I used an Iwata airbrush for the paint and lacquer which I think gives a nice finish.pity the original corgi colours aren't available though as the paint matching is guesswork !!
