Re: Find Of a Lifetime- 431 Guy Warrior Red and Green
Thank you Scott.
Those Bandais are pretty rare models. They date from 1960 and were exclusively made for the Sears Simpson wholesaler group by Bandai. Several models were made based on the main vehicle you show above.
The one with the plane is called...Scout Wagon.
There is also the Rocket Launcher.
and also the Shooting Commander Tank.
In 1960 they could have been brought for less than $8 each!

Scott, a very interesting post and a great find in incredible condition. From the models you have it looks as if most of these could all have been available new in a toy shop at the same time (allowing for some old stock), in the early 1960s. It looks like the original owner only collected Dinky's for a limited period.

Interesting comment and thought Bako. Included in his collection are a selection of Canadian Dinky Toy catalogs, dated from 1958 to 1965. All owned items were marked in the catalogs in pen with a big X through the item and all catalogs have items crossed off. Based on this my guess would be that he collected for 7 years.
There are at least 120 more toys in the collection- I will post more photos as I have time.

OMG!!
They all look factory fresh and I could make room for any of them, but please don't ask me to do a Desert Island Dinky Choice as that would be impossible...

WOW!!!!!! There's my childhood right there. I remember getting the Cole's crane for Xmas, probably 1963/4. At the time it was the biggest "toy" vehicle I had. Such memories evoked by this great collection. Thanks for showing us.

Brilliant! They definitely look museum quality from here, hope you enjoy them for many years. My favourite would be the Auto Service transporter, just for the play value.

What a great find ! and really pleased for you, really is a find of a life time,i am not a dinky collector but after reading Bobs post it also made me think of the past so i would pick has my favorites the mighty antar tank transporter and the coles yard crane, the antar i remember trying to get the cab and trailer apart when it wouldn,t budge,(its revitted)i turned the antar upside down and smashed it down hard on our garden wall ,it came off eventually but wouldn,t go back on
,the crane i spent ages trying to restring with thick hairy string and a paperclip hook, happy days, the only dinky survivors from my childhood was a beetle and a double decker bus,the beetle i sold at a car boot over twenty years ago when i started to collect matchbox, the bus i still have somewhere but now has a bigger importance to me,which brings me to the seller, the poor man has lost his wife but he his getting on with his life,it makes me and perhaps everyone think what will or what do you do with your collection has you get older.
We have just had a new bathroom, and they needed to drill in the loft so i had to clear out the bit above the bathroom, there were hundreds of beaters that really were of low value that i had collected over the years so i listed them on ebay, but it has made me think if anything happened to me what would happen to the rest of my stuff,i am well
but you never know, our local postman who i see now and again and was nearly the same age has me(50 ish) and we always have a good chat slipped over broke his ankle and something happened and he died.We are all mortal and like they say we don,t really "own" the toys we are just looking after them for the next person.

That's a beautiful collection. Very hard to pick a favourite, but I would also go with the auto carrier and trainer. Of course, you can't pick this without also having enough cars to fill it...
