Further proof about the crazy things going on in the factory at that time. I would not think that gold models would still be produced after tooling for the green models was completed. But there it is.

It is true that it's understandable that old parts could find their way onto new models (plenty of stockpiled components about as we've seen on many other models). But new components sprayed up in obsolete colours is less understandable. There are a lot of the gold transitionals about though, far more than the green examples. These are with a fellow collector.

I recently gave an unused gold body with the wider tyre holder to Gary Galvin (hi mate if you read this)

We sold some of these last year and I thank the members of this board and Alex's Book for clarifying these variations as they are not immediately obvious. I did find a green one with the old spare tire carrier, however it has a newer wider tire fitted to it, and it does not fit very well, which explains why.

It turns out that I have a dark gold model with brass metal wheels that I have had since I was a child and was purchased new in a store. It has the "new" spare tire carrier but has an old thin tire mounted to it.
