Plastic mould tests

As this subject has been posted elsewhere, here are the YY versions.

Y2 Bentley
First version

As can bee seen, there is little detail on this example although all the baseplate text is complete.

Second version

As detail was added to components the colour was changed to green so in this example it has some components with the extra detailing.
There is an all green example, but I don't have one yet. Others in black with red mudguards are known and there were a number of these in the now dispersed Tom Woodward Collection. Tom was a model Bentley collector of all brands like someone on here.

Y7 Wreck Truck
First version
Image
The body is the component in plastic that was metal in production. This has less of a ridge at the firewall (in front of the windscreen) than second version.

Image
The black crane has been found on production models in extremely limited numbers. Another I'm missing.

Image
The YY21 base was retained for English production models, but became Y7 Y21 Y22 when production moved to Macau.

Second version
Image
Here the firewall has been strengthened. It's worth noting that this example has a roof without the drip channel round the edge, whilst the first version has a roof with the drip channel as see on production models. These minor adjustments must have bee done around the same time, hence the mix of components. Very few of the white seats were made.

Image
Same base. The @1981 remained throughout production, irrespective of other base detail alterations.

It's like anything else really, down to the individual preference of the collector, but there aren't that many about. Unless you've got a box full Dave?
