Re: "MATCHBOX" copies etc.
Hi Al.
Without having a full range of catalogues showing the product line from AHI, it is very difficult to identify models that do not show any logos or brand names on either model or packaging etc.
If somebody had shown me the green box from my picture without a model, I would have said quite confidently looking at the style of that JAPAN and it is a green box, it was for a AHI sourced model, but because the particular model placed with the box is not marked, on it's own it remains an unkown model.
AHI was only marketing the little crude models which were being volume produced in Japan by somebody else for wholesale distribution by other more well established toy based companies including Bandai and Cragstan.
The wheel securing method on the Ambulance in my photo is not (as far as I know!), a common method seen on any model known to be from AHI, likewise those on your model are very similar but as you say, the wheels are placed '0ut-Board' whereas on known AHI models they are more conventional as shown on the known AHI model below.

Kevin - are you saying you have catalogues of AHI releases, as I wasn't aware they existed. I do have a page showing some of the boxed sets and the packaging HEREGHOSTHUNTER wrote:Hi Al.

No sorry Ian if I misled you. I don't have any AHI catalogues and not sure if they even had any for the little models. I know they exist for their larger plastic based toys such as the Batmobile models.

Re: "MATCHBOX" copies etc.
The original model from Hong Kong was a military version in Army green. the model shown in the above link is a later copy (with different position for MADE IN HONG KONG) and trimmed as an EXPLORATION vehicle. There is also a Petrol Tanker version with a modified top section. Then there is a much later copy with more basic wheels with the tyres moulded as part of the rims and no friction power, instead it is a wind up with a little plastic key version.
