Help needed indetifying some models
Re: Help needed indetifying some models
Congrats on the items into like the lead soldiers and the phone box, Dave certainly knows his stuff.
Re: Help needed indetifying some models
Thank you for everyone's help. Tomorrow is the big day when they go to auction through Vectis.
I don't know if anyone here will be bidding but if you do I hope you get them (but not too cheaply)

Re: Help needed indetifying some models
Hello British Collectors,
I'm new on this Forum and I don't speak English well because I'm Italian, sorry.
This topic is not the correct place for the presentation of new members, I know, but it's very hard for me to write in another language: for this reason, I didn't open another topic in the right section.
My name is Giuseppe (53 years old), I'm a old toys collector (mainly clockwork and tinplate), but I like die-cast models (Corgi, Dinky and the italian brands).
Recently I bought on eBay a little truck (die cast and clockwork) made in England, but I don't know the manufacturer. Could you help me to identify it, please?
Thank You!

Giuseppe, if it is easier for you, please post in Italian, adding an English translation using e.g. Google translate.ETR450 wrote:I'm new on this Forum and I don't speak English well because I'm Italian
Giuseppe, se è più facile per te, si prega di postare in italiano, aggiungendo una traduzione in inglese usando per es. Google translate.

A company based at 52A Brooksby's Walk, Homerton, London called Jordan and Lewden (still in business but not with toys anymore!), are credited to have been the manufacture of the River Series.ETR450 wrote:Thank you Ghosthunter!

A lot of discussion exists around the collectors magazines and some websites about these models, but still the name 'RIVER SERIES' remains a mystery. Some believing the name is based on the fact the factory was near a river, the factory being in a complex called The River Works.
As the models do not display any maker or distributor name my belief is they were made for other companies such as a wholesaler or market traders such as the Penny Markets etc in a similar way the original Lesney made toys were marketed by a company called 'MOKO'.
Ghosthunter.
