Question re “beaters”

I have a dozen or so 1-75s that my two younger brothers hand brushed with Dulux house paint in the sixties. They were maybe ten year old cars and worn out before their attempts at rejuvenation with Psychedic “hot wheels” designs.
They are complete and “running””.
A friend faithfully restored them to their 1950s prime, without embellishment. I only collect as memory keepers - have several others original, mint boxed. I would never attempt to pass them off as original, they’re sentimentally important to me as one brother has passed on. What is general consensus on these otherwise worthless beaters. They fill valuable gaps in my collection.

If the model has sentimental value then leave it as it is, but if not and it is a known recorded hard to find variation it is worth considering restoring back to a displayable condition, thats my feelings towards these types of pre-owned models.

I got enough of my brother’s artwork. Haven’t rejuvenated every beater he hand painted.

Story behind MG - school Christmas party 1962, I was seven. We had to bring an old toy for LuckY Dip or I think you call Tom Bolah in UK.
I put my hand in, unwrapped my surprise, got a doll.
Meanwhile, pretty little girl called Michelle was walking around with handful of “matchies”.
We smiled, sat down together. And swapped.
MG in that lot. 56 years ago - Cuban missile crisis and all.
Sometimes wonder what happened to Michelle.
Be 63 now.

Now that is a great story and can imagine the look on your face at bagging a Doll while Michelle got the Matchbox... I am so pleased that that little Matchbox has survived and to me would be such a precious item to own with such a story and memories attached to it, great and I personally would leave it as is it is because the hand painting is part of that model's rich history.

MG is now on display, partly seen in pic.
Some of my younger brother’s artwork survives.
I had a white MGB in real life - so was keen to have a white MG.

Now I gotta get a # 7 Mustang to salute my current car.
Hot wheels actually do a 2017 dark blue GT. Mustang convertible in stock trim - identical to my real life car - but I’m not interested.

Just leave it is as you find it. To do otherwise is making it something it just not is!!!

I have loads of 'beaters' but I make them look worse. I'm creating a scrapyard. Recognise any? The photo is quite large so that's you can see details more clearly.
