Lot sold for € 450.-

Post by paelzermaen »

Did I miss something here?
I just see a lot of beaters, at least 8 of them overpainted.

Nothing obvious Lesney-wise and, even if you do think there might be something there, with that many repaints in the lot and only the one photograph to work with, it's very much caveat emptor!

And as far as I can see, it’s not the Corgi Vanwall either - though that’s only based on a very cursory look on eBay. The only Lesney that looks vaguely interesting is the green Karrier refuse lorry, and I think it’s a repaint.

The corgi is actually a BRM. There is a nice grey and pink Vauxhall Cresta which may have been responsable for a bidding frenzy.

Impossible to tell with the photo, sometimes black can appear grey, but could they believe the Mk10 Jag has gpw? (Commer pickup for comparison)

The strange this is that it wasn't just two people indulging in a bidding war. There were at least four Ebayers who believed that they'd seem something tasty in this lot. The GPW 28c is an interesting theory but, given the quality of the single photograph provided, who would risk that kind of money on a gamble like that?
I've had another look, saving the photograph and then zooming in, but nothing jumps out at me as being rare.

I've brightened up the shadows and perhaps - just perhaps - the wheels look grey on the Jaguar. Sorry the picture is a bit big. Maybe someone asked the question and got a private answer? That happened to me on a cheap yellow 31b with a black base - the seller never bothered to update the listing.
