Well, I'd never have spotted that even if the picture had been annotated with a big arrow! Are they very rare and desirable?

Pink examples became UK specific issues but the reason for this is not clear. What is known is Mattel were instructed to repaint the Silver Shadow in more sober colours for the UK so we got the silver-grey examples with or without a matt black roof.

Not so long ago mint and boxed (were never boxed, only blister carded), pink issues were realising a four figure sum on the collectors second hand market. Now more examples are turning up through the internet and auction sites, this has naturally come down but they can still command a good solid three figure sum of money.

Thanks, Ghosty - really interesting to hear the history!

What a great spot, Dave, from a tiny bit of an image - I can see why you were annoyed. The AEC is a really good find, though.

I am glad ghosty has as confirmed my spot the gem ,so at least i was right it was a gem(the bonnets are fragile on this model so condition unknown) ,i did contact the auction house today(late delivery of my latest lots) and mentioned the rolls and that they really need to tighten security, this is the fourth time so something needs to be done,he,s going to have a word :D

Had the MATHEWS truck not been in the lot, this would be a case of a return of goods for your money because the goods were not as described, the pictures displayed on the auction site you used to gauge your purchase were part of the description, regardless of what actual text was written to describe the lot so to receive an incomplete lot is not on!

The problem with this now is it is your word against the pictures that you did not get all models shown and that is going to be the difficult part!

i would also have to pay the return postage which when you factor in ,its better financially to keep the lot, once i bid on a small lot of actionmen for my friend, there was a rare " george best" action man when it came the head was missing off the doll!,when i complained they said to return the lot ,which would have cost and was then a guranteed loss, luckily the auctioneer agreed to a partial refund for my friend, three times i have picked up lots and the porter has given me a partial lot and i had to challenge them, another time a courier service sent my lot to another buyer ,who when they tracked him down said he had throw most of it away as it was rubbish  ,i got a £100 refund and free delivery on my next lot,my biggest refund was when i waited for my lot of mixed diecast with spot on lorries in,after 10 days i asked where my lots were and they said i hadn,t paid the postage ,which i had ,they realised their mistake but my mixed lot of diecasts including the spot on lorries had gone, hence a £200 + refund,it is getting a case of look for the gems and hope :o .Once when using a courier i did specify that they wrapped a particular car well, this helped to make sure that that car was picked up with the others, but its the hassle on what really i do for fun ,loseing stuff to thieves really narks me and speaking to the auction house and posting on here means i have at least done something, and i have "got over " it a bit and have won a few more lots so life goes on. :D
