Another toy fair lot. There's one exceptional item here and at least three of the others are good too.

Re: spot the gem
Ditto above, that's a nice lot and I like the Benbros truck. The only other thought is gpw on the Chevy Taxi.

Two right, and one nearly right.johnboy wrote:Ditto above, that's a nice lot and I like the Benbros truck. The only other thought is gpw on the Chevy Taxi.
Merryweather with a cream base - and intact bumper ends too, which is a bonus. The 4b Massey Harris has seen better days but it's still nice - plastic wheels, crimped axles, driver without infill. The nearly right one is the 25c Bedford - which doesn't have grey wheels but does have the early cab with the thin back wall. I'm very pleased to get this in such good condition. I like the Benbros too but it wasn't on my list of gems just because they're not that popular, though they are quite scarce.
Yes, that's one of them - another Superfast with unusual labels. This one is in bright yellow, has wide wheels and is missing its tow hook but otherwise not too bad. You haven't spotted the one that for me is the absolute star. It's in the front row. It's not the Chevrolet taxi, which has black wheels and a tow guide.Ergomatic wrote:The SF13 Dodge Wrecker with 'ESSO' labels.

Yes, that's the one. The seller had two Lomas ambulances, both the same price. The other didn't have the cross-locating casting. He definitely didn't know what he had. This one is a significant improvement on the other one I have - intact decals (better on the other side than this), and two back doors. I'm very pleased!nearlymint wrote:No14 black wheels and cast locating cross , very nice find indeed.

nice lot, what toy fair did you find these at
Re: spot the gem
Should I tell you? I don't want you all rushing there looking for bargains!
It was Cirencester. It's quite small, but has some of the dealers you see at the NEC and bigger shows like Shepton Mallett. I've found some good things over the years - a superfast Merryweather with the half sill casting on a previous visit - but I don't think it's better or worse than anywhere else. It's just a matter of luck and knowing what's good! I'm sure I missed loads more. Someone had a lot of boxed early 70s Superfast, but I wouldn't have a clue about whether any were rare. Like all fairs, there are lots of Dinkys, lots of train stuff, and many action toys.
