Re: Devizes today
The market man had 30 or more early Matchbox in good condition - worth a look if you happen to be in Devizes on a Sunday! The green Cadillac was £10, which seemed a fair price: I’ve seen them sell in worse condition for far more. It’s the first casting, without the arrow under the bonnet.jeff f wrote:hi, the green caddy , i sold to the market man , he had the other caddy and the estate off me too, so thought they were his
The mauve Cadillac was in a toy fair trader’s junk box, absolutely filthy, but too cheap to leave behind, and it’s cleaned up well. The Fairlane was at the bottom of another trader’s box of junk, clean but unnoticed - the green model with the black base is quite hard to find, and the silver-wheeled version is said to be more scarce (is it, I wonder?). I have quite a fleet of these now.
Re: Devizes today
most of his matchbox came from me, he has more to put out, are you local to devizes ? there weasent many dealers who knew matchbox models at the show,
Re: Devizes today
Not very local - just over an hour away. I agree - most of the dealers didn't seem to be great on Matchbox, and it would have been nice to have seen more stock. There was a lot of train stuff and hundreds - maybe thousands! - of boxed Oxford Diecast. However, Matchbox prices were lower than at the bigger shows. I definitely found enough to make it worth the trip.jeff f wrote:most of his matchbox came from me, he has more to put out, are you local to devizes ? there weasent many dealers who knew matchbox models at the show,

Re: Devizes today
several people have expressed an interest in the Superfast 32 Burmah tanker. I'm open to offers or interesting trades for regular wheels, but I thought I'd better post some more pictures so that you can see the condition properly! The main problems are:
- the chassis is slightly bent, I think because it's been stepped on. It's obvious from the sides, especially in photographs, but doesn't look bad in the hand
- the right side label is more worn than the left, but almost all there
- all the axles are bent, especially the back one
- there's quite a bit of paint loss on the front of the cab
- the left-hand end of the front bumper is slightly broken.
It does have the silvery grey base and despite all of this looks pretty good. If you're interested, send me a message. I'll let the lucky new owner know next weekend.

Re: Devizes today
The Burmah tanker is on its way to a new home, where I know it will be highly appreciated, and I'm looking forward to receiving a nice regular wheel model in exchange. It's a great example of how well the forum works!
