70b Grit spreader Black Base ?

Post by nearlymint »

Recently bought this one thinking I had found an unlisted black painted base, but the base is not painted but has a real black look to it. From the front compared to another it is really noticeable.
Not sure if I have seen this before but on another model, can anybody remember or have they come across this colouring before.

There’s a long thread here. I’m not sure that it reaches a firm conclusion!

Thank you very much for the link, I knew I had read about this before. I will have another look myself later and probably put the model in the unusual section.

Just had another look and I do not think its paint, its almost like either the plating was wrong or has had a reaction to the metal base. Anyway looks good next to another on display.

Great that another has turned up. Faulty plating seems like a plausible explanation but I’d be pleased to find one!
