64b MG1100
64b MG1100
Any thoughts on this one would be welcome: My concern was the fact that the rear of the casting doesn't sit perfectly with the baseplate, but when I checked, this does seem to be a theme with some of my other 1100s. Picture 4 shows a standard regular wheels model on the left, exhibiting the same trait as the superfast version on the right. The last picture is one of Nick's which show another 1100 with un-foiled wheels but no annotation, it only mentions the one with strange white wheels.

Hi John,
What a great model, what are the numbers on the inside of the solid wheels.

Hi John,
Thanks nice early solid wheels, have you noticed the position difference of the “ to the right of the X on matchbox.
Never noticed that before but probably never looked that hard. Will have to dig my ones out now to have. A look.

Bang on 1970. 'K' would have been 1971, but this model according to Nick's notes did not have a long production period, being replaced in 1971, so you seem to have found a good one John.johnboy wrote:Hi Jason, the numbers are J3, J6, J12 & J19.

Re: 64b MG1100
Thanks Jason/Ghosty. I'm not clear whether this is a production model or not. I did notice the difference in the quote marks but it's difficult to know when the change took place, the run was so short. Perhaps it was for the release of the blue model. It would be interesting to see what yours are like Jason.

Hi,
My standard Blue Superfast 1100 has the quotes alongside the X, matching the Green example above.
Cheers

What a superb find JB, very interesting indeed. Would you mind if I save your images to my own private photographic reference library?
