Atlas Edition baseplate screws

Trying to undo the screws to release some Atlas Editions fire engines from their plastic bases. I have more screwdrivers than I thought I would ever need but none will fit the screws. On closer inspection, the screws are not the usual Philips head used by most manufacturers ... these are miniature hex sockets needing an allen bit. What on earth is that all about? One of the models has triangular slothead screws.
I shouldn't have to buy specialist tools just to release a model from a plastic base. Health and safety gone mad.

I have also found awkward screw designs on various Chinese sourced models. The triangle slot design is a pain and luckily I found the right sized jewellers flat blade screwdriver could be made to fit. Sometimes the problem is actually holding the model (Rolls-Royce being quite delicate with the grille mascot being very vulnerable!), with some force required for some screws.

Yes, the triangular hole is easy with a suitable flat blade but the hex hole is a pain. Finally sorted it with a little heat from a soldering iron and a pair of square nose pliers. Ridiculous. Lovely baseplates mind, cobblestones with models name at front, all in a flame effect box ... unfortunately will take up too much space like that.

Latest Atlas Editions purchase had ordinary Philips head screws but a plate was welded over the screws to prohibit access.
I had to resort to a flat blade screwdriver to chisel the plate off. Not just tacked on but fully welded all round.
Had to be careful not to slip and stab myself. Baseplate ruined underneath now. What's that all about?
I suppose I could have drilled a couple of holes with hindsight, but I got a bit miffed off with it.
