This will be my last posting for a while as I'm moving house shortly and due to the amount of work I will need to do on the new house I think my collection will be packed away for some time to come Although I still have plenty more variations to show in the future.

Other than the cast badge differences, until I took this photo, I had not noticed that the rear number plate mount is far more pronounced on the British version





Jaguar E-Type 2+2 131



The red version is missing some parts at present. The recess on the bonnet for the front number plate disappeared by the 3rd (Bronze) version









The 131 model number was removed from the base by the last version. Perhaps they were planning a cut down features alternative model?

Unfortunately not had much time recently to add to or photograph any more of my collection, although have now found all the colour versions of the Jaguar E-Type 131 model, the last one being metallic red and also added the Police (501) variation to my Citroen 530 set:

I remember I nearly had one of those blue Opels with the Speedwheels but for some reason I can not now remember why, I never actually got it...

Love the E-Type Jaguar models.

Some years ago I acquired a group of Dinky & Corgi models from a close friend. I dithered about whether to keep them and start collecting these but in the end decided that I would keep my focus on Lesney. After seeing your great collection I wonder if I should have widened my interests - though I imagine I'd never be offline

Do the Rekord and Commodore have the same engine?

Thanks for your comments, I will try and post a few more of the variations from my collection over the next few months. The Opel and the Rekord do have the same engine but what i can't remember is whether the engine was missing on the Rekord when it first arrived, I may have just replaced it with the engine from another Commodore. Should the French model have a different engine molding? Not sure how fussy Dinky were about the engine difference between a 1.9 and 2.8 given the tiny size of the block in the Zodiac

After looking for some time I finally managed to find an example of the pale blue Austin 1800 (171), which I believe was mainly sold in export markets. When it arrived, I was surprised to see the inside of the boot lid was in the more common colour of the metallic blue version. I know this variation exists on the Holden (export colour) which I also have an example of and is pictured; but I’ve not seen this mentioned before for the Austin 1800. The model appears never to have been apart, so I'm fairly sure would have come from the factory like this.

The bonnet is pale blue both sides. I imagine both the Holden and Austin were made at similar times in the mid-60s so overpainting of parts for the smaller colour batch runs may not have been uncommon. Does anyone else have this or other 60s Dinky's which have a different colour on anywhere on the opening parts?

I believe the Mk 4 Zodiac has been treated in this way and there is a forum member who owns a Silver Cloud III in gold overpainted in metallic red, the new colour for the 1972 season.

Yes, you are right the blue Mk4 Zodiac is normally found with white overpainted back doors from the police version (page 2 of this thread). I know I have seen the post elsewhere about the gold Silver Cloud III painted red, but I seem to remember the odd thing about that one was it had the orange rather than blue interior so may have been trailed a long time before 1972.
