another suspect item

Post by DrJeep »

Was anyone else watching this green11a tanker from France? It sold for £400 but the base picture tells it all...

I was looking at it earlier and wondering whether the colour was off or whether it was simply the colour balance of the photographs.

That's sad. Dubious colour, awful crimps and the wrong casting. Quite a few bidders took this to £33 or so, then just two took it to it's closing price and the winner (with 8 feedback) had multiple bids to win the auction.

I think the colour is wrong but as John says, it’s the wrong casting. At least the picture should have left no-one in any doubt.

The correct base casting for the Green 11a model.

Hi all, I feel sorry for some of these new collectors they get sucked in thinking they have got a bargain . There are such a lot of fakes on eBay at the moment Pete.

They seem to be every where, the other week a collector showed a Red & white 50a which he said he got on ebay for less than he said it was valued at in his book.

He did not like it when I told him it was a repaint I told him it should have SPW not Metal wheels

He would not say how much he paid for it?

Hi Pete,
But should they not be doing a bit of homework before spending that sort of money, I know there are a lot of fakes/repaints not just on eBay but at many toy fairs I have been to. But you really need to start off small and familiarise yourself with the different castings and variations thats all part of it for me.
