Thanks everyone for the good wishes. I've been lucky in that my stroke we quite mild and has not affected my thinking or typing abilities. Walking is currently poor, but the worst problem I have is that for ten days I couldn't swallow (even my own saliva). After 7 days they fitted a nasal feeding tube, which is still in place, to keep me sustained until my swallow returns. There has now been some progress - I can drink what they call thickened water (like tasteless wallpaper paste) and a bit of yogurt, but nothing else yet. It is good that the swallow is returning, but it is happening far too slowly for me!

My Internet access here in the hospital is patchy, but I'll try to keep up with the forum when I can.

Cheers,

Martin

Get well soon Martin and please keep on touch. From what I know on here and elswhere you are a very positive thinker and dont hold any punches when it comes to life thoughts. It will be very interesting to know how you feel about things after this warning ..Hopefully this will be the first and last of these warnings and someone with the medical skills will now have such stuff stopped in its tracks.

All the best to you and yours at this difficult time.
