That's not a colour trial SF35 Fire Engine. It was supposed to represent a Green Goddess and dates from the time of the firemen's strikes in the UK in the early-80s. Unfortunately, by the time Lesney has got themselves sorted out and produced some test models (how long does it take to change the paint from red to green?) the strike was over and the model was never released for sale.

Hi I think Rob had a similar one when he sold his collection at Vectis Pete.

Rob did have the green SF#35 in his sale and it was described as a preproduction model.

Hi all I am not worried if it’s a trial or prepro or even normal production, just nice to add something different into the collection.

Whatever it is, it's a great display model Jason, I love it! It is confusing because Christian has it as a pre-pro and Nick as a colour trial, it looks like an older casting with the twin lockers. Even more confusing for me was the fact that the old Green Goddess's were Bedfords :)

If it is a first-type casting with twin lockers then, yes, I would agree that this particular example is a pre-production/colour trial rather than a later, half-baked attempt at a Green Goddess.

If it is a first-type casting with twin lockers .
No it’s the standard casting.

In that case I stand by my Green Goddess story.
