This one was hidden in a group lot and it cost the equivalent of 57p Any thoughts on the window unit? normally when these have been depressed, the unit moves up and down in the casting, but this one is stuck fast in the position you see. I've tried moving it from underneath with a blunt wooden cocktail stick, but it won't budge. I'd like to fix it back, any ideas?

It's a great find just like it is. I don't know what to suggest: if it's stuck firm it probably needs more force (!) perhaps pushing forwards as well as up, and probably with something a bit stronger than a cocktail stick. I'd have one more go but be prepared to give up easily and enjoy it like it is.

Probably just a really tight fit over the rivets, maybe when you get a beater to discect and have a look at how it actually fits. This will give you more of an idea what you have to do.
I will see if I have any beaters to check for you. Really nice find and a super spot on this one.

Thanks for the comments. I've got dental type probes, but I don't want to risk cracking the unit. Good idea to dissect a beater Jason, I'll look out for one.

I am wondering if it has got caught on the grey side shutter and hose reel moulding so once you have a beater to get inside, try and emulate the glazing and force the beater glazing down as far as it goes to see if it is catching said moulding. If it is just a case of getting the glazing to go back up into it's proper position, heat the model with a hairdryer to help soften the glazing but obviously not too hot to cause further damage to model or glazing and try your tooth picks again to do some jiggiling (God bless you dear old Ronnie Barker!) and hope it pops back without too much drama.

The beater should also show how the glazing is kept in place, roof rivet or interference fit. If roof rivet it is unlikely you will be able to get the glazing secured with the rivet again, as forcing this back in place could easily crack the glazing!

Many of us here are now waiting to see what you find and what you can do!

I've just looked inside all of mine with a powerful torch. The glazing is held by a single central rivet a few mm behind the lights, but it only seems to be pressed on the first issue without sills; even my model with half sills is without a pressed rivet. So the glazing should slide back on when free.

I think Ghosthunter is right; there's a strengthening rib on the inside of the grey insert around the side shutter, and it's probably catching on this. So gentle upward force towards the back of the glazing is probably the answer. I wonder if you might be able to lubricate it carefully with something like WD40 or washing-up liquid.
