RED VICTOR

Post by petethesweet »

Hi all, has anybody seen the Red Victor on Ebay. Have only ever seen a couple in the flesh. The paint looks a bit funny, looks too thick & dull. What are your thoughts Pete

I have had a look and it looks nice but the paint finish in my view has a satin finish and the baseplate looks as if the matt black is too thin as you can see through it making it look more of a charcol colour than matt black. Overall the model looks too good!

I agree with Ghosty. All of the paintwork - body, baseplate, and trim - looks wrong. In addition, the baseplate rivet looks too good. (On genuine red Victors it is a gnat's whisker too short for satisfactory flaring.)

I agree with all the above, the crimps look very odd too.

I spoke with the seller and it is supposedly coming from a large collection out of Singapore. It was a single owner collection bought new and then stored away. I have dealt with the seller before and have been very happy with the purchases. I thought the paint looked heavy myself that is why I contacted him for the providence of the piece. The other one that just sold was more along the lines of what I am used to seeing, shiny paint and semi-glossy base. Time will tell but I have a feeling this one will go high as well.

Hi all, still not very convinced with the paint, never seen the axle ends that shape before. I think it will do £1500 to £1900 if its wrong you have always got Ebay & PayPal behind you. Pete.
