Y-9 Fowler Color Variation

Post by mcornes »

I am adding some new cars to my collection and have come across a variation for the Y-9 Fowler that I am not sure of. I have 3 versions. The right one has a white roof and is the bright red version. The other two I am not sure of. I know the purple is extremely rare, but in comparing the color to the photo on Alex Picha's book is seems to match and it is does have a distinct purple tinge. Probably more likely that they are dark and pale maroon, but I thought I would ask the experts.

I would say dark & pale maroon.

This thread might be useful.

These models go from a very dark maroon with purple tinges to a light maroon. The purple model cannot be mistaken as almost like the purple on the Y11 Lagonda but has the added metalflake sparkles of the Y12 Bird's custard in the paint. Its reported that most are found on the model with the gold smoke box / boiler. I have only ever seen one in my life.
