Nice to see those Hong Kong models, they always fascinate. I have just added the model in the pictures below and they show something a bit more collectible and certainly more valuable!

Image

Y-6 1920 Rolls-Royce 'Fire Engine' with a Red driver's seat. This is coded to the 'White Book' as issue 14. Models with the Red seat apparantly discovered in W. Germany in 1983. They are in fact from 1982 but span across to 1983 when by then the crew seats along the side of the body were plastic.

Image
The crew seats are the long dark Brown strips just above the 'BOROUGH GREEN & DISTRICT' labels and on this model are metal castings with a Bronzed effect. During 1983, these were replaced by Black plastic mouldings.

Image
Image
Because this version comes from towards the end of this model's production period, it has both Y-6 & Y-7 catalogue numbers on the base section just above the rear axle.

This was my Third attempt at getting one of these variations into my collection. The First attempt and the model turned out to be a fake. The Second attempt and the Guy sold it during emails to him, so Third time lucky!

Image
Here is that fake next to my genuine example.

Not added any significant models lately, but the following model is to change that!

Image
This is a pre-production model for the Y-10 1906 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost.

Image
Image
Because this is an early body casting, it only has a single seam down the body at the rear. During 1970, the full production models had this seam removed and the tooling used to cast the body left two lines on the body which would become known as a double or twin seam body.

Image
These 'Pre-Pro' models are fully built but badly painted, the importance here is the fit of everything while being assembled on the flow line so the quality and colour of the paint is of secondary importance. The wheel rims, grille and headlamps, runnings boards and the firewall and windscreen castings are all un-plated components.

Image
There is a crossbar missing from the rear of the engine sump which was added just before full production started, so only these 'Pre-Pro' models have a smooth area there and two braces (missing on the above model) connecting the front springs to the baseplate were added again after the model went to full production.

These tend to command a high price as the example shown below.
Image

My example was secured for less than 30 Euros!! :D

I would like that as much as you would like a certain fire engine..........

But I guess neither of us want to swap!

Yes, strange how we have both aquired a rare model each within weeks of each other and the decent thing to do would be a streight swap, but each model means so much to us a swap is off the cards for the foreseeable future.
