After the many dubious items we've seen lately, here's an eBay purchase that I'm pretty sure is genuine - a 59b Ford Fairlane fire chief with grey plastic wheels.
Unfortunately, it's been overpainted though the Fire Chief decals are still obvious under the paint and the silver trim is intact. It came in a group of 10 battered items for £7 including postage.
The others include a broken, painted 39a Zodiac convertible with 8x18 GPW and the blue-green base and a a 17c taxi with SPW and the pale grey base - sadly, both are in awful condition. The Opel and the Ferrari have both been trodden on, though the Cadillac isn't bad and the Fiat does have its luggage. Now I just need to work out how to clean the paint from the 59b without damaging the decals.
59b GPW - not a fake!

and here it is after a little light cleaning. Very far from perfect, but I'm pleased to have it.

Now that is nice, a nice amount of playware and had it been presented to us in that condition with a question about the wheels I don't think we would have had any doubt about it's status. Nice find Glen.

Thanks! It’s nice to get a 59b with grey wheels where authenticity isn’t in question.
