Spyker Tourer encased in resin with lighter

Post by selhurst42 »

Hi all,

I have a Spyker Tourer encased in resin with a lighter on top. I think it is a Models of Yesteryear (looks the same and has the same number plate: MC4595) but the colours don't match the standard issues. It is silver with green seats. I did find a couple of other Lesney Gitware pieces on ebay with same colours.

Also there is nothing on the base plate of the actual lighter and there is no reference to Transpalite. The base is red. I did read the transpalite info here and elsewhere.

The lighter still operates (the mechanism I mean, not lighter fluid so not sure if it sparks up).

Any thoughts/ideas about it greatly appreciated.

Hi Gav, again for better viewing I have resized your picture.

It certainly looks like a 'Transpalite' item to me and the lighter usually has the name on the left side of the trigger mechanism as shown in my detail picture below.

Definately looks like a Transpalite with the red base and chamfered edges.

going off on a tangent, in my getting old muddled memory I can remember my late sister having a kit where she would take items and cast them in resin
making key fobs, paper weights and the like does anyone else remember this and what was it called

Yes Reg, I remeber my close cousins had a set similar to what you describe.

Here is a similar set from 1972.

I remember those kits too, but I have no idea what name they were sold under.
